The Main Event - Hertfordshire County Show 2013
March already and preparations for the Hertfordshire’s showcase agricultural event are well underway. The 125th Hertfordshire County Show is set to attract 38,000 visitors to the Hertfordshire Showground, Redbourn over the Bank Holiday weekend of 25th and 26th May.
This year’s show promises to be bigger and better than ever with a packed itinerary for the two days including a full programme of livestock and poultry competitions, farmyard area, food hall, horticultural and craft marquees and displays that include show jumping, birds of prey, quad bike stunts and the ever popular sheep shearing show.
For those of you who can’t resist a bit of retail therapy there are over 300 trade stands selling all manner of items from clothing and food to pet supplies and gifts while youngsters can enjoy an all-human circus and a Victorian travelling show which combines magic, illusion and traditional tomfoolery in a colourful and upbeat spectacle.
Anyone interested in showing their animals are spoilt for choice with around 50 livestock and 99 poultry classes available. Entries for livestock and equine competitions close by post on 22nd April and online 29th April. Entries for poultry classes, including eggs and photography close Saturday 18th May. Tickets are available in advance online or by telephone at the discounted rate of £13.20 Adults, £6,.40 Child and £11.60 Senior with a family ticket, admitting two adults and two children, for £32.80.
